



Complete ResultsIthaca, N.Y. -- November 5, 2011 -- The Springfield College wrestling team opened its season by finishing fifth (of nine teams) in the Ithaca Invitational this past Friday and Saturday. The Pride ended with 158 points in head coach Jason Holder's SC debut.
Centenary (N.J.) placed first with 216.5 points, followed by host Ithaca second at 208, Thiel third at 181, and Johnson & Wales fourth at 162.5.
Eight SC wrestlers placed anywhere from third through sixth among individuals, led by freshman Eric Hamrick (Collingswood, N.J.) at 149 pounds, and by junior Derrick Longo (Ardsley, N.Y.) at 174 pounds.
Other individuals also fared well. Junior Joe Grippi (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 141-pound weight classification. A total of four individuals placed as high as fifth in their weight classes. They were sophomore Tom Casper (Bergenfield, N.J.) at 125, freshman Dylan Foley (Southborough, Mass.) at 149, junior Michael Fish (Middletown, N.J.) at 174, and junior Nicholas Camera (North Massapequa, N.Y.) at 184.
Up next, the wrestlers come home to host the annual Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Jason Holder will enter his second season as head wrestling coach in 2012. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
