New York, N.Y. - November 15, 2013 - Heather Lewis (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) poured in a career-best 22 points to power the Springfield College women's basketball team to a 81-78 come-from-behind win against Staten Island in the NYU Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.
Lewis snagged 10 boards for her first career double-double, while teammate Jaimie Bickelhaupt (Brookfield, Conn.) registered a double-double of her own with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
In her collegiate debut, Lexi Windwer (Milton, Mass.) canned four three-pointers for 12 points off the bench, and Ava Adamopoulos (Ludlow, Mass.) totaled seven points and four boards in nine minutes of action.
Additionally, Andrea Moschetta (Harrison, N.Y.) posted a game-high six assists.
Despite trailing 47-34 at halftime, Springfield made a push during the final five minutes of play to come away with the thrilling victory. Trailing by eight with 5:13 to go, Windwer buried a trifecta to kickstart a remarkable 15-4 burst for the Pride. Bickelhaupt's inside bucket with 11 ticks on the clock gave Springfield it's first advantage since it's it led 18-15 lead with 12:14 left in the first half.
Staten Island missed on their ensuring possession, and Tamara Tribble (White Plains, N.Y.) sealed the win with a free throw with one second remaining.
Springfield finished the night shooting 30-for-69 (43.5%) and owned a 52-42 edge on the glass, including 17 offensive rebounds.
The Pride will play host NYU in the championship game on Saturday evening at 8:00 pm.
