SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 29, 2005 – Springfield College senior forward Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) scored two goals to lead the No. 10 Pride to a 3-0 victory over Trinity College in non-conference action on Thursday evening, September 29, at Benedum Field.
Brooker, the reigning New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week, had two unassisted goals, adding to her team-lead of eight on the season as the co-captain also has 18 points through SC's first nine games.
The Pride jumped on the board early as senior midfielder Jaclyn Galligan (Hopedale, Mass) found the back of the net for the first time this season, in just the third minute of play (2:28). Sophomore goalie Emma Kaplan (Ridgefield, Conn.) stopped seven Bantam shots on goal on the way to recording her third shutout of the season.
Trinity College senior goalie Courtney Bergh tallied six saves as the Bantams fell to 4-4.
SC improves its overall record to 8-1 on the season as the Pride is currently in the midst of a five-game winning streak. SC resumes conference play with a 1:00 p.m. game at home against Wellesley College on Saturday, October 1, as a part of Springfield College's Family and Friends Weekend festivities.
