Boston, Mass. - February 25, 2012 - The Springfield College women's track and field team competed at the All-New England Championships Saturday in Boston. As a team, the Pride finished 26th in a meet consisting of teams from Division I, II, and III.
Kelly Curtis had the Pride's top individual performance as she placed fourth in the pentathlon on Friday evening.
Springfield's 4x400 meter relay team had another great race as Gabriella Gaudreault, Laurie Jenkins, Crystal Davis, and Katie Schumman finished in eighth place with a time of 3:55.80. That time now ranks the squad 10th in all of Division III.
Jenn Kapinos just missed scoring for the Pride, placing 10th in the 500 meter event. The sophomore’s time of 1:18.68 kept her just two spots out of scoring position.
Others that competed for the Pride women included Amanda Martin in the long jump event and the triple jump. Martin posted a distance of 5.09 meters in the long jump and a distance of 10.75 meters in the triple. In the 200 meter dash, Jenkins ran well with a time of 25.88 seconds and Schumann competed in the 400 meters, clocking in at 58.86.
Springfield is back in action next weekend in New York City at the ECAC Championships.
