Mount Holyoke and Field Hockey Suspended Due To Snow
Springfield, Mass - October 29, 2011
- The Springfield College field hockey team's contest against visiting Mount Holyoke College was suspended with 12:43 left regulation due to unsafe conditions following a snow storm. The remainder of the game will be made up Tuesday at 5:30 pm at Stagg Field.
Mount Holyoke currently leads the game, 1-0.
The visitors got on the board first, scoring 11:17 into the contest. Off a corner, Shara Robertson hit Kirsten Kilburn at the top of the arc. Kilburn zipped a pass to Jess Fajardo who promplty snuck it past Pride goalie Grace Bibber for the 1-0 advantage.
Springfield almost got the goal back midway through the half. With 17:00 on the clock, Kelly Gallo flicked a backhand toward the Mount Holyoke goal but keeper Katie Gibson made the initial save. The ball ricocheted to Lynne Donoghue, but Donoghue’s shot went just wide and Mount Holyoke got the ball back still leading.
