Williams and Dayton Earn NEWMAC Honors Babson Park, Mass. - April 1, 2013 - Springfield College's John Dayton and Alex Williams were honored by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for their efforts over the weekend. Dayton was named the NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week, while Williams took home NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors.

Dayton, who hails from Bolton, Conn., had a great start to the 2013 outdoor season as he recorded the top distance in the hammer throw on Saturday at the Ramapo Invitational. The junior recorded a toss of 54.80m (179-09) to win the event by over 11 feet.

Williams, a native of East Hartford, Conn., picked up his first win of the season after recording a seven-inning shutout win over WPI on Saturday.

The junior scattered three hits and did not allow a run as he powered the Pride to a 3-0 win. He struck out eight of the first nine Engineer batters and did not issue a base on balls in the contest.
