October 6, 2012 - Adam Ziewacz fired a 73 in the opening day of the 2012 NECC Championships to help guide the Springfield College golf team to a first-place tie after the opening round of competition. As a team, Springfield is tied with Babson with 308 strokes.
Elms is two strokes back with a 310, while Newbury sits a distance fourth with a 335. Becker (343), Daniel Webster (356), and Mitchell (384) round out the field.
The sophomore was one of three players in the field to shoot a +2 over at Passaconaway Country Club. Teammate Tom Vollaro is currently tied for fifth overall with a 76, as he tallied the lowest nine hole score for the Pride after registering a 34 on the front. Chris Vincent is tied for ninth after posting a 79.
Kyle DiFranco recorded a 40 on both the front and back nine to finish with an 80, good enough for an 11th-place tie. Tom Sangeloty is in a tie for 14th with an 81 after rebounding with a 36 on the back nine.
