Men's Tennis Wraps Up Spring Break With 6-3 Win Over Puerto Rico Humacao

Humacao, Puerto Rico - March 21, 2013 - The Springfield College men's tennis team wrapped up its Spring Break with a 6-3 win over host Puerto Rico Humacao on Thursday.

The Pride swept the doubles competition and never looked back as it improved to 4-3 on the season.

Ben Burnap and Kyle Merseau won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while teammates Joe Giannelli and Alex Orban took No. 2 doubles, 8-6. In the third doubles spot, Cody Rodrigues and Zac Goldstein prevailed 8-4.

In singles action, Mersereau cruised at the top spot, 6-1, 6-2, and Burnap posted a gritty 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2. Orban added Springfield's other singles victory, with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 decision at No. 4.

Springfield will now head north and hosts Rhode Island College on Tuesday, March 26th at 4:00 pm.
