MEDFORD, Mass. Jan. 25, 2003 - Springfield College junior
Marisa Clapp (Winchendon, Mass.) finished first in the 1,500-meter run (4:51. 62) and second in the 1,000-meter run (2:59.09) to lead the Pride to second place out of 11 teams at the Tufts Invitational, Saturday. Host Tufts won the meet with 173 points followed by Springfield (109.5) and New York University (85).

Alisha Miner ran to first in the 500-meter run (1:20.36) and fourth in the 200-meter run (27.63), while sophomore
Sarah Martin (Madison, N.H.) grabbed first in the triple jump with a jump of 32 feet, 9 1/2 inches.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
