Baseball Bows To WNEC, 4-0, In ECAC Tournament

WALTHAM, Mass., May 10, 2003 - The Springfield College baseball team's season came to an end on Saturday with a 4-0 loss to Western New England College in the semifinal round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Tournament held on Stein Diamond at Brandeis University.

The Pride downed Johnson & Wales, 11-2, on Friday to advance to Saturday's showdown with the Golden Bears. Senior centerfielder Dan Abrahamson (South Deerfield, Mass.) went 2-for-5 with three runs batted in and a run scored in the win.

SC senior first baseman Brian Puchalski (South Deerfield, Mass.) went 2-for-4 against the WNEC to lead the Pride.

WNEC freshman left fielder Bobby Zoller paced the Golden Bears with a 2-for-4 day at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in.

Springfield College finishes the season with a record of 19-19.
