Women's Gymnastics Falls To Ithaca, Downs MIT in Tri-Meet

Cambridge, Mass. - February 21, 2009 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team finished second in a tri-meet at MIT on Saturday afternoon after it defeated MIT but fell to top-ranked Ithaca.

The Pride fell to the Bombers, 184.700-182.675 but was able to down the host Engineers, 182.675 - 179.550.

Springfield had a great deal of success on the vault as it has all season, this time taking the the top four spots, with Jacqueline Mazzola leading the way with a first place score of 9.550. Christina Pagella took second with a 9.425, while Brittany Davis took third with a 9.400. Jenna Williams rounded out the Pride's scoring with a 9.350.

In the uneven bars, Williams also took fourth with a 9.475, while Ashley Moreck placed fifth with a 9.250. Christine Pagella also put together a solid meet as she placed tied for fifth in the floor routine with a 9.475. Penelope Bohunko captured second in the balance beam with a 9.35 and finished second in the meet.
