Springfield College Athletics To Hold Breast Cancer Awareness Week

2012 Breast Cancer Awareness Week Springfield, Mass. - October 2, 2012 - Springfield College Athletics will be working towards raising breast cancer awareness throughout October 5-16 with several teams participating in the cause. The women's volleyball, field hockey, women's tennis, women's soccer, and football teams will all be doing their part to help increase awareness in the upcoming days.

Throughout the time span, teams will be selling t-shirts to raise funds for the Dana Farber Institute. Fans of these teams are encouraged to wear pink to the upcoming games.

Starting on October 5th, the women's volleyball will kick off the awareness week. The women's volleyball team will be hosting the Tom Hay Invitational beginning at 5:00 pm on Friday and will be wearing pink in warm ups and during the matches. In addition, on the following Saturday, the Pride will be wearing yellow to focus on Sarcoma cancer awareness.

Also on Saturday, October 6th, the women's tennis team will host Babson at 1:00 pm as part of the breast cancer awareness program.

On October 13th, the field hockey team will take on MIT at 11:00 am and the football team will battle Merchant Marine at 2:00 pm during Springfield's Homecoming weekend.

The women's soccer team will wrap up the awareness week when it plays Coast Guard at 7:00 pm on October 16.
