



CAMBRIDGE, Mass., February 19, 2006 - Springfield College senior All-American Sarah Strout (Boothbay, Maine) capped off Sunday's action with a NEWMAC Championship record and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 17:18.62 in the 1,650 freestyle event as the Pride won its sixth-straight NEWMAC Championship crown, hosted by MIT.
SC blew away the competition on the weekend, compiling a total of 908 team points. MIT finished in a distant second with just 687 team points, as Wellesley rounded out the top three with 541.5 points.
Other event winners for the Pride during Sunday's competition included freshman Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.), as she took the 200 breast event with a time of 2:24.80, and SC's 400 freestyle relay team, which set a NEWMAC Championship and Zesiger Pool record with a time of 3:33.79. The Pride's 400 free squad consisted of junior Meaghan O'Hara (Bedford, N.H.), Price, junior Julianne McCormick (East Walpole, Mass.), and senior tri-captain Emily Phillips (North Windham, Conn.).
