Arroyo Wins 200th As No. 10 Wrestling Sweeps Three Matches At Wilkes

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield College wrestling coach Daryl Arroyo won his 200th career match as the No. 10-ranked Pride swept three matches at Wilkes (Pa.) College, Thursday. SC defeated Wesleyan University, 27-9, Bridgewater State, 38-9 (Arroyo’s 200th win), and host Wilkes, 22-18, to improve to 8-0 this winter.

Springfield senior Keith Poloskey (Middle Island, N.Y.), earned three wins to lead the No. 10 Pride to a three match sweep at Wilkes (Pa.) College, Thursday. SC defeated Wesleyan University, 27-9, Bridgewater State, 38-9, and host Wilkes, 22-18, to improve to 8-0 this winter.

Polosky, who is ranked No. 1 in Division III at 141 pounds, improved to 11-0 this season, while senior Bill Ivatts (Foxboro, Mass.) improved to 16-1 with three wins at 149 pounds.

Freshman Pete Marques (Massapequa, N.Y.) and junior Justin Friend (Jefferson, N.H.) were also credited with three wins at 133 and 125 pounds, respectively.

In 13 years coaching his alma mater, Arroyo has compiled a 201-90-6 record. He has coached 21 NCAA All-Americans, 52 national qualifiers, 34 Scholar All-Americans and 34 conference champions.

Since Springfield moved to Division III in 1996, the Pride has finished in the top-10 at the NCAA Division III Championship five times, including a pair of seventh-place finishes in 1996 and 1998. Springfield has also won the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Team Championship five out of the last six years.
