Women's Swimming & Diving Falls At Amherst
AMHERST, Mass., February 7, 2004 – Springfield College sophomore All-American
Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) won the one-meter dive (259.57) and three-meter dive (257.50), but the Pride lost to host Amherst College on Saturday, 127-93.
SC sophomore
Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:04.62.
The Pride’s 400 freestyle relay team, which consists of junior
Louis Arruda (West Warwick, R.I.), freshman
Ryan Mahoney (Westford, Mass.), junior
Blake Leshnick (Suffern, N.Y.), and freshman
Chris LeCompte (Londonderry, N.H.), won in a time of 3:18.51.
SC (5-5) freshman
Nicolas Debboli (Plainville, Conn.) took the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:31.60.
On the women’s side, Springfield College junior All-American
Megan Skinner (Acton, Mass.) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.07), but the Pride fell to Amherst on Saturday, 132-87.
SC’s 400 freestyle relay team of senior
Jessica Defoe (Monson, Mass.), sophomore
Emily Phillips (North Windham, Conn.), sophomore
Alicia Hart (West Hartford, Conn.), and Skinner won in 3:44.88.
Other winners for the Pride (9-3) included freshman
Melissa Pond (Wayland, Mass.), who won the three-meter dive (232.80), and senior
Beth Byron (Haverhill, Mass.), who won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.61).

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and is entering his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014. The current NEWMAC Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
