SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Oct. 30,2002 -- Springfield College junior
Jessica Defoe (Monson, Mass.) placed first in the 200-yard free style and the 100-yard free style to lead the Pride past Holy Cross, 138-100, at the Linkletter Natatorium.
On the men’s side, freshman
Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) won in the 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly as SC swam to a 126-111 victory. Moran’s first-place time in the 1000 was 10:15.77 and he posted a time of 2:02.38 in the 200-yard butterfly.
SC freshman diver
Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) placed first on the 3-meter board with a score of 270.53 points. He also captured first place on the 1-meter board (258.07).
Defoe swam the 200-yard free in 1:59.98 and won the 100-yard free in a time of 55.19. SC senior diver
Allison Mellage (Union, N.J.), a six-time All-American, won the 3-meter dive with 245.92 points.
Holy Cross freshman Emily Ferris won the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.91) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.91).

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and is entering his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014. The current NEWMAC Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
