Ithaca, N.Y. - December 2, 2012 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Ithaca Invitational on Sunday as finished fifth among 11 teams. As a team, the Pride ended the weekend with 686 points.
Cornell claimed the team title after totaling 1,648 points, following by Colgate's score of 1,149.5 points. SUNY Geneseo placed third with 830.5 points, while host Ithaca (713) and Springfield (686) rounding out the top five teams in the field.
Kellie Pennington touched first in the 100 freestyle with an NCAA Championship "B" cut time of 50.76.
Ashleigh Monroe swam a time of 18:38.83 to finish ninth in the 1,650 freestyle, while Kelsey Poole posted a 2:14.29 in the 200 back. Also, Nicolle Stracqualursi competed in the 200 breast and touched in 2:36.57.
Springfield wrapped up the weekend with the 400 free relay. Callie Phillips, Poole, Amanda Shaw, and Pennington combined to swim a 3:36.89.
The Pride will swim at home this upcoming Saturday when it hosts Middlebury at 1:00 pm.
