Men Finish 3rd, Women 4th at the New England Div. III Track & Field Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – May 5, 2007 – The Springfield College men’s and women’s track and field teams both performed well at the New England Division III Track & Field Championships held at SC’s Blake Field over the past three days. The men finished third of 28 scoring teams, while the women finished fourth of 26 scoring teams.

Team scores on the men’s side were Williams 137.50, Tufts 91, Springfield 89, MIT 79, Coast Guard 60.33, Bates 52.50, Salem State 30, Eastern Conn. State 28, Trinity 26, Westfield State 25, Amherst 24.50, Bowdoin 23, UMass Dartmouth 20.50, Wesleyan and Wheaton 16, Brandeis 15, WPI 14, Colby 13, Southern Maine 12.33, Middlebury and Worcester State 10, Keene State 9, Fitchburg State 8.33, RIC 5, Babson and UMass Boston 2.

Team scores on the women’s side were Williams 166.50, MIT 85, Bowdoin 69, Springfield 67.50, Amherst 54, Tufts 53.50, Middlebury 50, Wheaton 49.50, Bates 36, Colby and Southern Maine 31, Smith 27, Keene State 24, Bridgewater State 18, Coast Guard 16, Brandeis 13, RIC 11.50, Colby-Sawyer and Wesleyan 10, Worcester State 7, Trinity 6, UMass Dartmouth 5.50, Westfield State 5, Emmanuel and WPI 4, UMass Boston 2, Mount Holyoke and Wellesley 1.

Head Coach Ken Klatka

Ken Klatka Ken Klatka, an associate professor of physical education at Springfield College, will enter his 38th season as head coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for an impressive .743 winning percentage.
