A senior inside linebacker, Goodwin helped lead Springfield College to a final record of 9-2, which included a second straight ECAC Division III Championship Bowl game victory, this time over Mount Ida College, 26-17, last Saturday. SC is now 4-0 in ECAC post-season bowl games.
A native of Foxboro, Mass., Goodwin accumulated 11 tackles in that contest (six solos), including one sack (11 yards) and one tackle-for-loss (11 yards), plus one pass break-up.
For the season, Ken ended with a team-leading 98 tackles in 11 games. He had 55 solos and 43 assisted tackles. He also totalled two sacks (13 yards), eight tackles-for-loss (24 yards), four interceptions (70 yards), eight pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one block.
A recreation management major, Goodwin was recently named All-Empire 8 First Team. During the season, he was named three times an Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, the only player in the conference so named.
SC finished 3-2 in the very competitive Empire 8 Conference, defeating St. John Fisher, Hartwick, and Utica. The conference losses came to Alfred and Ithaca. With nine victories overall on the season, it proved to be just the sixth time in Springfield College history (going back to 1890) that SC produced as many as nine or more wins.
