Springfield had been ranked #1 in this poll after one week two weeks ago. Then following a 35-28 loss to nationally #23-ranked Alfred, the Pride fell to #2 in the poll behind Amherst for the lead.
But this week, SC has eked out enough points (188) to tie Amherst (2-0) , moving back into the lead. Amherst had the better of it in first-place votes, 11 to 8.
In third place was Williams (2-0) with 138 points and the remaining first-place vote. In fourth was Endicott (4-1), which jumped four spots, with 130 points. And in fifth was Framingham State (4-1) with 104 points.
The six through 10 slots included Curry (3-2) with 69 points; Maine Maritime (3-1) and Plymouth State (4-1) tied for seventh with 62 points each, Trinity (1-1) with 60 points, and Norwich (4-1) with 52 points. Among others receiving votes were WPI and WNEC.
Springfield has this Saturday off. It will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 1:30 pm in a Homecoming Day encounter with Empire 8-foe Utica College.
