Men's Soccer To Travel to Coast Guard For NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal

David Chessen Springfield, Mass. - October 31, 2010 - The Springfield College men's soccer team earned the fifth seed in the upcoming New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament after finishing the regular season with an 11-7-1 record, including a 2-2-1 record in league play.

As the fifth seed, Springfield will travel to take on Coast Guard on Wednesday in the 4/5 matchup of the tournament. The winner of the game will travel to take on top-seeded Babson on Saturday.

Earlier this season, Coast Guard bested the Pride, 2-0, in rainy and sloppy conditions on October 1st. In that game, Springfield played the majority of the second half a man-down after a Springfield player was issued a red card.

Springfield's sophomore captain David Chessen has been chronicling the Pride's season, and recently added a new blog post about his team's excitement for post season play. To read Chessen's thoughts on the upcoming game, click here.
