Springfield, Mass. -- January 27, 2010 -- Jimmy Pezzino of Springfield College, a freshman from Buffalo, New York, has been named this week's EIGL Rookie of the Week by capturing first on floor exercise (14.50) and second on vault (15.55) at the Navy Open on Saturday, Jan. 23. In that meet, the Springfield Pride (331.60) gave Temple (332.50) some anxious moments in an exciting competition at McDonough Hall in Annapolis.
In only his second competition for Springfield College, Pezzino was coming off of a 4th place finish in floor exrcise (14.05) at the 2010 West Point Open.
Pezzino is an Art major and received his early training at Stumpf's Gymnastics Center in New York.
Entering his 31st season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
