New Orleans, La. – February 17, 2011
– The Springfield College women’s cross country team was recently recognized for their efforts in the classroom as they were honored as a 2010 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women’s All-Academic Team.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average. Of all Division III institutions, who sponsor women’s cross country, 167 received the honor.
Springfield, which had a team grade point average of 3.53, ranked first among New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) institutions who received this accolade. In total, six schools from the conference won the award as Babson, MIT, Smith, Springfield, Wellesley, and WPI were all honored.
The Pride also had a nice year on the cross country course as they finished seventh at the NEWMAC Championships.
