



Springfield, Mass. -- Sept. 2, 2011 -- Four varsity sports -- including three tournaments -- will begin this weekend (Sept. 2-4) as the 2011 Springfield College fall sports campaign gets under way with a bang. SC will host three tournaments, including women's volleyball (Friday-Saturday), men's soccer (Saturday-Sunday), and women's soccer (Saturday-Sunday). The field hockey team will also play a single game on Sunday. All the above games will be played at home.A highlight will be the Springfield College debut of new women's volleyball coach Moira Long on Friday night.

John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 165-75-21 record.
