



Louisville, Ky. - December 10, 2012 - The Springfield College softball team had 12 student-athletes named as 2012 NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced.The award was given to student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year. Receiving the individual recognition for the Pride included Stephanie Barrett, Chelsea Bender, Caisie Cadorette, Allison Clott, Kelsey Dunn, Amy Entel, Tess Gagliano, Caitlyn Holik, Jennifer Joseph, Kasey Kelly, Alison McCarthy, Allison Rivelli.
The honor marks the second component of the Association’s academic award program. Earlier this year, the Springfield College softball team was honored for its academic success and was selected as a 2012 NFCA Division III All-Academic Team. Among the 400-plus Division III softball programs across the country, the Pride's 3.57 GPA was the third-highest grade point average in the nation last season.

Julie Perrelli enters her fourth season at the helm of the Springfield College softball program and as an assistant professor of physical education. In her first three seasons in the dugout for the Pride, Perelli has guided Springfield to two NEWMAC Championship title games. Read more.
