SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Oct. 5, 2002 – Springfield College senior midfielder
Kelly Castine (Greenfield, Mass.) led the Pride with two goals as SC shutout MIT, 6-0, in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey contest at Benedum Field.
The Pride, which improved to 7-3 with the win, jumped out to a 3-0 lead halftime lead as
Brianne Tompkins (Stormville, N.Y.),
Kim Stevens (Knox, Maine) and Castine all tallied goals for No. 16 SC. In the second half, SC added three more goals with scores from
Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn.), Maylese Leyva (Harwich, Mass.) and Castine.
Springfield outshot MIT, 31-3.
