



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- September 29, 2008 -- Heather Lively has been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball of the Week after leading the Pride to a 4-1 week against some of the top competition in New England.In five matches, the Royalston, Mass. native totaled 70 kills, averaging 4.12 per game to pace the Pride attack. Hitting at a .269 clip, she also added 11 total blocks to bring her weekly point total to 76.5.
After leading Springfield to a third-place finish at the MIT Invitational, she was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
In the mid-week sweep over conference-rival MIT, Lively registered a team-best 13 kills in the win. In a sweep over Bowdoin, Lively hammered out 14 kills, hitting .476, before helping Springfield defeat Williams for the first time in five years with a 16-kill, four-block effort on Friday night. She added 14 kills in the Pride's loss to Tufts before rounding out the weekend with 13 kills, hitting .423 in a sweep of MIT.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
