Women's Swimming and Diving Earns Scholar All-America Team Recognition
Springfield, Mass. - July 12 2012
- The Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team was named a Scholar All-America Team as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The CSCAA bestows Team Scholar All-American accolades to each college and university swimming and diving program who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
This year's women's swimming and diving team had the seventh-highest grade point average in all of Division III as it achieved a 3.62 GPA. Hope College was the top academic team nationally this year with a 3.79 GPA.
Not only was the team very successful in the classroom, they also had a tremendous year in the pool. The Pride finished 12th overall at the NCAA Division III Championships, led by Kellie Pennington's national championship in the 50 freestyle.

John Taffe enters his 25th season in 2013-2014 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III.Read more

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and is entering his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014. The current NEWMAC Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions. Read more
