



SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 4, 2005 –Springfield College senior forward Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) scored her 12th goal of the season as the No. 7 Pride defeated Mount Holyoke College in overtime, 2-1, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game this evening at Benedum Field. Brooker was named the NEWMAC Player of the Week for the second-straight week this past Monday (Oct. 3).
After a scoreless first half, Brooker scored off a feed from classmate Jaclyn Galligan (Hopedale, Mass.) at the 49:43 mark. Two minutes later, Mt. Holyoke junior forward Katie Marquis found the back of the net to tie the game at one apiece.
Senior midfielder Meghan Bascetta (Granby, Conn.) netted the game-winner for SC after six minutes of overtime play (76:23). The Pride improves its record to 6-0 in overtime contests this season, as SC has won its last three games in overtime affairs. The Pride is in the midst of an eight-game winning streak as it has not lost since back on September 11 (2-1, Middlebury).
SC, ranked seventh in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll, improves to 11-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in NEWMAC play. The Pride next travels to Babson College for another conference game on Saturday afternoon, October 8, at 1:00 p.m.
