Brewster, Mass. - October 28, 2013 - The Springfield College golf team wrapped up its fall season by competing at the 79th annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships, which was played on The Captains Golf Club on Sunday and Monday.
The Pride posted scores of 342 and 347 for a total of 689 to place 35th out of the 37 teams that competed. Central Connecticut State (288+309=597) won the competition, followed by Rhode Island (297+303=600) and Bryant (298+313=611).
Once again, Springfield was led by Kyle DiFranco (East Longmeadow, Mass.), who followed up his first round 81 with a 77 on Monday to finish tied for 45th.
Joe Sobowicz (Farmington, Conn.) finished the tournament with a 166, posting an 81 and 85 in his two rounds. Mike Nowakowski (East Hampton, Conn.) was the Pride's third-highest finisher after registering rounds of 85 and 92, while Michael McAllister (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) added scores of 95 and 97.
Springfield's fifth golfer, Frankie Anetzberger (Selkirk, N.Y.) ended the weekend with a two-day total of 196.
