Springfield, Mass. - October 19, 2009 - Heather Lively was honored by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for her efforts this past week as she was named the NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.Lively had one of the top performances in program history in Springfield's lone match of the week, a four-game victory over Babson in conference play. The junior outside hitter put together an incredible showing as she pounded out a career-best 23 kills without a single error in the match, en route to a .657 hitting percentage. It was the highest total of kills without an error in Springfield's storied history. Her offense was the focal point for the Pride as she finished with 23 of Springfield's 52 kills for the match.
Lively and the Pride return to action on Tuesday evening when it travels to take on local conference-foe Smith at 7:00 pm.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
