Hay was chosen out of nearly 100 women's field athletes at the national championships.
In her final indoor championships, the Norwalk, Conn. native was terrific as she won the national championship in the triple jump and placed third in the country in the long jump.
In the long jump, Hay made the most of her last jump in the finals as she registered a mark of 5.66 (18-7) to finish third in the country.
The following day, Hay recorded the farthest jump in the countryduring the indoor season with a distance of 11.98 meters, or 39-3 3/4, to win the national championship in the triple jump. Hay outdistanced the top-seeded jumper in the event, Nakeisha Jones of Tufts University, who finished second with a distance of 11.75 meters, or 38-6 3/4. Fittingly, Hay now owns the school record in the indoor triple jump after her national championship distance that she registered that day.
