Springfield, Mass. – August 18, 2009 – Springfield College will host its annual Football Media/Photo Day on Thursday, August 20 at 2 pm at Stagg Field. Members of the media are invited to interview Head Football Coach Mike DeLong or any other member of the coaching staff or any player at that time. All members of the team are expected to be present. The session is expected to last at least until 3 pm, if not longer.
After reporting to campus on Saturday, the Pride has practiced throughout the heat this week as it prepares for the upcoming 2009 campaign. Springfield will once again scrimmage Westfield State this preseason as the two teams will square off on Thursday, August 27th at 6 pm on Stagg Field.
The Pride, which finished the 2008 season with a 4-6 record, will open up the 2009 season under the lights on Stagg Field against Fitchburg State on September 5th. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 pm.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 32nd season as a head football coach in the fall of 2013. He enters his 30th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
