



Springfield, Mass. - January 31, 2011 - For the third time this season, senior Matt Cavalieri was named the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week.Cavalieri had a strong week for Springfield as it won a pair of conference games to move into a tie for second place in the league standings. In the two contests, Cavalieri averaged 24 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 20-34 (58.8%) from the floor.
In the win over Clark, Cavalieri netted a team-best 20 points to go along with seven rebounds while shooting 9-19 from the field.
On Saturday's win over Wheaton, Cavalieri became the 27th player in program history to score 1,000 career points as he poured in a season-best 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting. He added two blocks and two steals in the win.

Charlie Brock in 2012-13 will enter his 15th season as the head coach at Springfield College and his 33rd season as a head coach overall. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive. He has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament and has an overall, 32-year record of 440-397. Read more.
