Springfield, Mass. - August 3, 2011 - Both Brian Sobel and Josh Ernst were honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as they earned Scholar All-America honors for their work in and out of the pool last season. Sobel, one of the most decorated and talented divers in Springfield College history, took home the academic award after qualifying for the NCAA championships while posting a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. The recreation management major earned a pair of All-America honors on the diving boards this year with after taking third in the 1-meter diving event and eighth in the three-meter, while maintaining his 3.76 grade point average.
Ernst earned the honorable mention Scholar All-America designation for achieving NCAA ‘B’ cuts during the season and finishing the semester with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. The sports journalism major completed the season with a 3.78 grade point average.
John Taffe enters his 24th season in 2012-2013 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 28th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012-2013.
