Westfield State Defeats Baseball, 12-8
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 5, 2003- Westfield State sophomore shortstop Josh Gosselin went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored from the leadoff spot as the visiting Owls defeated Springfield College, 12-8, on Monday afternoon at Berry-Allen Field.
For SC (18-17), senior first baseman
Brian Puchalski (South Deerfield, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. SC sophomore designated hitter
Matt Talbot (Athol, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Westfield (13-18-1) also received contributions from junior center fielder Pat Ryan who went 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored. Owls' sophomore pitcher Ben Lapins hurled three innings, giving up just one earned run on four hits on the way to his second victory of the season.
