



Worcester, Mass. - April 27, 2010 - Senior Joe Kropa and junior John Schmaltz were selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball All-Conference Second Team on Tuesday morning.Kropa has had a standout senior season as he is batting .355, which ranks second on the team. Despite battling injuries that limited him to designated hitter for a portion of the season, Kropa has racked up a team-best 39 hits, including six doubles. He has crossed the plate 18 times and has knocked in 12 runs. Playing the majority of the season in the outfield, Kropa recorded 60 putouts on the year and had a fielding percentage of .953.
In his junior season, Schmaltz has continued to play well for the Pride. A two-sport athlete who also plays on the football team, Schmaltz leads the team in batting with a .362 average. In 94 at-bats, Schmaltz has produced 34 hits, including eight doubles, while posting 13 RBI and scoring 14 runs With .425 on-base percentage is the best on the team, and the third-year outfielder had not committed an error all season.
