ITHACA, N.Y., Feb. 6, 2005 – Springfield College sophomore
Jill Silverman (Ipswich. Mass.) was victorious in the vault competition, but the Springfield College women’s gymnastics team fell at Ithaca Sunday, 184.25-180.475.
Silverman, who is ranked second in Division III on the vault, recorded a season-high score of 9.450, and tied for third with freshman teammate
Cara Chadbourne (New Salem, Mass.) on the uneven bars, scoring a 9.150. Chadbourne, who ranks 13th in D-III on the uneven bars, also placed second in floor exercise (9.500) followed by freshman
Kerry McGowan (East Lyme, Conn.), who placed fourth (9.350). McGowan ranks ninth nationally in the event.
Other notable on the national leader board are junior
Larissa Tabin (Holyoke, Mass.), who is fifth in the floor exercise, and Chadbourne is 12th in that event. Sophomore
Heather Tuden ranks 10th in the all-around.
The Pride will host Bridgeport on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Blake Arena.
