



Lexington, Ky. - July 24, 2012 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team was one of 90 programs throughout Division III to be recognized with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The award recognizes those programs maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 GPA on a 5.0 scale. 259 collegiate programs received the honor and Springfield was joined by New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) member MIT. A total of 10 institutions from across New England earned the academic award.
Earlier this year, the Pride was recognized for the third-straight season by the New England Women's Volleyball Association with its' Academic Team Award.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
