Men's Tennis Blanks WPI, 7-0
, April 7, 2004 – Springfield College evened its mark in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) at 1-1 with an impressive 7-0 win at WPI today.
This was the Pride’s first road win of the season, and SC improved its overall mark to 2-4.
The Pride registered six straight-set victories in singles play, led by senior Yuta Yoshi (Yokosuka, Japan)
, who posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1. Yoshi teamed with freshman Ethan Clime (Bristo, Maine)
for an 8-6 win at #1 doubles. Sophomore Justin Freitas (E. Providence, R.I.)
and senior Chris Sweeney (Wakefield, Mass.)
cruised to an 8-0 win at #2 doubles, and junior Richard Aseltine (Tyngsboro, Mass.)
and senior Brad Boisvert (Ponaganset, R.I.)
won 8-2 at #2.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
