Men's Tennis Blanks WPI, 7-0
WORCESTER, Mass., April 7, 2004 – Springfield College evened its mark in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) at 1-1 with an impressive 7-0 win at WPI today.
This was the Pride’s first road win of the season, and SC improved its overall mark to 2-4.
The Pride registered six straight-set victories in singles play, led by senior
Yuta Yoshi (Yokosuka, Japan), who posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1. Yoshi teamed with freshman
Ethan Clime (Bristo, Maine) for an 8-6 win at #1 doubles. Sophomore
Justin Freitas (E. Providence, R.I.) and senior
Chris Sweeney (Wakefield, Mass.) cruised to an 8-0 win at #2 doubles, and junior
Richard Aseltine (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and senior
Brad Boisvert (Ponaganset, R.I.) won 8-2 at #2.
