



Babson Park, Mass. - November 9, 2011 – Sophomore Kelly Gallo and junior Kayla Sokol were honored for their excellence this season as they were selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey All-Conference teams on Tuesday. Gallo took home first-team honors, while Sokol was named to the second team.For Gallo, it is her second consecutive selection to the all-conference first team. The Westfield, Mass. native led Springfield in scoring with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists, good for 12th in the conference. Gallo led the Pride women with three game-winning goals.
Midfielder Sokol earned her first all-conference nod. The native of West Brookfield, Mass. scored two goals on the season and took the majority of Springfield’s penalty corners.
The Pride wrapped up its season on Saturday, reaching the NEWMAC semifinals in post-season play, before falling to MIT in Cambridge.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
