Women's Cross Country Fourth at Purple Valley Classic
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., Sept. 24, 2005 -- Senior
Meghan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) ran to her third consecutive second-place finish to lead the Pride to a fourth-place finish at the Purple Valley Classic Cross Country Invitational hosted by Williams College on Saturday.
Young, who has placed second in all three meets this year (Amherst Invitational 9/10, UMass Dartmouth 9/17, Williams Invitational 9/24), chewed up the five-kilometer course in 18:58, just five seconds behind Caroline Cretti of Williams. Sophomore
Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) was second across the line for the Pride in 20:40. Senior
Jessie Zacarro (Washingtonville, N.Y.) came through the finish in 21:21, followed by senior
Sara Tyman (West Suffield, Conn.) (22:04), and junior
Jackie Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) (22:16) rounded out the scoring for the Pride.
The Pride scored 221 points to finish fourth. Williams won the meet (41 points), followed by Dickinson (44) and Middlebury (59).
SC travels to Keene State College for the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 1, at noon.
