Baseball Sweeps WNEC, 10-2, 4-1
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 3, 2003 - Springfield College sophomore
Brian Royal (Orange, Mass.) hurled a complete game, scattering eight hits and two earned runs, as the Pride defeated Western New England College (WNEC), 10-2, in the first of two games on Saturday afternoon at Suprenant Field.
In the second game, it was SC senior right hander
Aaron Linder (Oneida, N.Y.) who pitched a complete game three-hitter, allowing just one earned run, as the Pride (18-16) defeated the Golden Bears (20-17), 4-1.
In the first game, it was SC sophomore designated hitter
Matt Basteri (Melrose, Mass.) who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. SC senior first baseman
Dave Folli (Endicott, N.Y.) added to the cause going 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game.
SC junior second baseman
Dan Samia (North Adams, N.Y.) went 4-for-9 on the day with a total of four RBI and one run scored. SC freshman third baseman
Derek Yvon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) also helped out, going 2-for-7 with two runs scored.
