Ithaca Edges Field Hockey, 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Oct. 20, 2002 – Springfield College sophomore forward Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) notched a goal but it was Ithaca College that came away with a 2-1 win in stroke-off in a non-conference field hockey contest at Benedum Field.

Bombers freshman Natasha Snowden (Tisbury, Mass.) tallied the game-winner in strokeoff burying a shot past diving Pride goalie Lindsey Pardue (Houston, Texas/Episcopal).

Snowden put the Bombers on top 1-0 with her goal 31:26 into the contest. The Pride tied the game on Grant’s fifth goal of the season with 47:35 remaining on an assist from Maylese Leyva (Harwich, Mass.).

With the loss, Springfield drops to 8-8 (3-3, NEWMAC) while Ithaca improves to 6-6. The Pride looks to end its four-game losing skid when SC travels to Williams on Oct. 24.
