



Springfield's ResultsWorcester, Mass. - October 29, 2011 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team opened up the season with a strong showing as it bested Holy Cross, 169-131, on Saturday afternoon.
Leading Springfield on the day was Kenny Pancoast, who swept the diving competition. Pancoast claimed the three-meter with a score of 283.96 before totaling 270.38 points for the win on the one-meter.
Jason Scotto was also double winner as he took first in the 200 free in 1:50.85 while also winning the 500 free in 5:08.10.
Other individual winners on the afternoon included Tim Ramos, who touched first in the 1,000 free in 10:44.83. Benjamin Ernst won the 200 fly in 2:10.85, while his brother Josh Ernst bested the competition in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.67.
Nolan Manley sprinted to a win in the 50 free in 23.03 and in his first collegiate meet, Hayden Cassidy won the 100 free in 52.37.

John Taffe enters his 24th season in 2012-2013 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 28th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012-2013.
