No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Clinches Top Seed For Pilgrim League Tournament With 23-7 Win Over MIT

Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) tallied six goals and two assists, while senior attackman
Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.) added five assists to lead the No. 9 Pride to a 23-7 victory over MIT in its regular-season finale.
The win, SC's 10th in a row, clinched an undefeated league mark and the top seed for the upcoming conference tournament. The Pride (11-3, 6-0 Pilgrim), winner of the Pilgrim League East Division, will host Norwich, the Pilgrim League West No. 2 seed, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Benedum Field. Western New England earned the No. 1 seed in the West Division and will host Babson, the East Division's No. 2 seed, in the tournament's other semifinal.
The Pride scored seven of the first-quarter's eight combined goals, including two each by Brown and junior midfielder
Brian Endicott (Malden, Mass.), as the Pride led, 7-1, after one period.
SC found the back of the net 10 times in the second quarter, including a pair of Purdy-to-Brown tallies in only 10 seconds, to open a 17-3 lead at halftime.
The Pride outscored the Engineers (6-5, 3-3 Pilgrim), 6-4, in the second half to improve its record to 38-2 against Pilgrim Legue competition since joining the league in 2000.
