Bowden Selected NEWMAC Player Of The Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 29, 2003 -- Springfield College junior keeper Tom Bowden was selected the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week in men's soccer, announced today.

Bowden, a native of Havertown, Pa., is the first SC men's soccer player to earn the conference's weekly award in '03.

With the Pride in the midst of a three-match losing streak, Bowden posted three consecutive shutouts last week. On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Bowden blanked MCLA for 95 minutes in a 1-0 overtime win. Two days later, he shutout WNEC for 110 minutes and made four saves in a 0-0 draw (Sept. 25). On Saturday at Coast Guard, he made four saves in 110 minutes in another scoreless double-overtime draw (Sept. 27). He has not allowed a goal in 330 minutes.

SC is currently 2-3-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the NEWMAC.
