Men's Track Fourth At New England Div. III Championship
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., May 4, 2002 - Springfield College junior
Adam Hughes (Bridgewater, Conn.) won the 110 hurdles and later placed second in the 400 hurdles to highlight the Pride's fourth place finish at Saturday's New England Division III Men's Track & Field Championship at Williams College.
The Pride tallied 71 points to place behind host Williams (169.5), MIT (122) and Bowdoin College (72).
Hughes clocked a 14.95 in the finals of the 110 to earn Springfield's lone individual title. He also ran 54.04 in the finals of the 400 hurdles en route to runner-up honors.
Junior
Jason Jackson (Phippsburg, Maine) placed second in the finals of the 100 meter dash (11.06), junior
Jon Notary (Bethlehem, Pa.)finished fourth in the 800 meters (1:55.94) and senior
Robert Mateicka (Metuchen, N.J.) earned fifth in the 1500 meters (3:56.64).
The Pride next competes at the All-New England Championship at Boston, Mass. on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11.

He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
