Kingston, R.I. - December 5, 2009 - The Springfield College women's swimming team finished fourth this weekend at the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island. URI (906 points) won the two-day event and was followed by Holy Cross (722), Bryant (561), Springfield (524), and Providence (496).
The Pride began day-two of the invite by finishing sixth in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:58.77 with the quartet of Megan Cooney, Jennifer Carignan, Meredeth Trumbull, Caroline Kusciusko.
Trumbull swam to a fifth-place finish in the 400 IM recording a time of 4:51.39, while finishing second in the 200 butterfly. In the 100 butterfly, sophomore Kaitlin Reilly finished in second place with a time of 1:00.73. Reilly narrowly missed a first-place finish, touching the wall just :00.04 after race winner Gael Carter of Holy Cross. Reilly also finished in sixth-place in the 100 free finishing in :55.21.
Junior Aimee Doe had a strong showing in the 200 free finishing in 2:00.11, good enough for fourth-place. Meghan Sisson took just 10:59.6 to finish in second-place of the 1000 free. Joining Sisson in the 1000 free was Meghan Feran who finished in fourth-place with a time of 11:12.38, and Laura Hartford in sixth with a time of 11:15.62.
The 400 free relay team of Reilly, Doe, Jaclyn VanWaalwijk, and Kerry Lynch ended the day by finishing sixth with a time of 3:47.00.
The Pride will return to action on Saturday, January 9, 2010 when they square-off against both Hartwick and Union in a tri-meet in hosted by Hartwick in Oneonta, N.Y.
