



Shreveport, La. -– February 25, 2012 -- Jessica Lieblich posted the highest all-around score of the night at 37.750, edging teammate Robyn Price at 37.725 as the Centenary College women's gymnastics team bested Springfield College 190.775 to 180.125 in a showdown in the Gold Dome Saturday night.Centenary took an early advantage on the vault thanks to a strong showing by Christy Martinez, who recorded 9.75 marks on both attempts. Lieblich posted 9.65 marks on each try. For Springfield, senior Carly Flynn (Franklin, Mass.) placed in a tie for third with a 9.625. Freshman Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.) tied for sixth at 9.575.
The Ladies had a strong showing on the bars, besting Springfield 47.025-41.350, as Stephanie Wright posted a 9.75 on her second attempt, improving on her 9.65 mark on her first attempt. For SC, freshman Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) was sixth in 8.875.
Springfield tried to close the gap with the balance beam with a 46.425 score. Sophomore Keelin O'Connell (Pembroke, Mass.) tied for third at 9.625. Clark was fifth at 9.500.
But the Ladies pulled away with a 47.275 mark in the floor exercise thanks to a 9.8 mark by Lieblich. For the Pride, junior Annemarie Graziosa (Eastchester, N.Y.) placed sixth in 9.225.
SC found itself at a disadvantage right away when junior All-American Brittany Baglow (Amherst, Mass.), the Pride's top gymnast, was injured during warm-ups and had to be pulled from the all-round. In fact. Springfield employed only five gymnasts in three of the events on the evening.
Pocius was the only Springfield gymnast to post all-around numbers, finishing behind Centenary’s Lieblich and Price with a score of 36.050.
For those of you interested, Centenary College of Louisiana is a private, four-year arts and sciences college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Founded in 1825, it is the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River, located in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Ladies and Gents represent NCAA Division III and The American Southwest Conference
